Chandrayaan 3's successful landing

Successful Landing of Chandrayaan 3 – Evening of 23rd August 2023 – High Heartbeat Condition!

23 August 2023; On Wednesday, there was an atmosphere of tension all over India. And as the evening was getting closer, everyone’s heartbeat was getting faster. Because the landing of Chandrayaan 3 was going to happen this evening! ISRO scientists were going to have a tough test! And this Evening was about to write India’s fate! That’s why at 5.20 (17:20) minutes of Evening, when ISRO started the live telecast of Chandrayaan 3’s landing, 140 crore Indians sat glued to their mobile and TV screens! And Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi also joined live with ISRO from South Africa. And everyone was waiting for the moment when Vikram Lander’s landing was about to begin!

In these hours of waiting, every moment seemed like an hour! But at last the moment came when the landing of Vikram Lander was about to begin! Not only India, people from all over the world were eager to see this! And even India’s enemy countries i.e. China and Pakistan could not stop themselves from watching this mission live! So what happened in the last 15 minutes, after which Chandrayaan 3 created history! To find out, let’s go on this thrilling journey of Moon landing with Vikram Lander!

Activation of automatic landing sequence! (ALS)

So, at around 5.44 (17:44) in the evening Chandrayaan 3 was roaring ahead at a speed of 6048 kmph in its orbit preparing for landing! That’s why ISRO’s Chief, S Somnath, sitting in ISRO’s Mission Operation Complex, pressed the last button and activated the A. L. S. (Automatic Landing Sequences)! That means now Vikram Lander was going to control itself. And the scientists of ISRO were just about to sit and watch this beautiful sight! So after this command, Vikram Lander immediately started showing its amazing talent, and leaving its orbit, went towards the first phase of moving towards the moon!

Rough Breaking Phase

Friends, in the first stage of landing, Vikram Lander started moving towards the moon from a height of 30 km. And, slowly it started coming down while circling round. During this, its speed in the beginning was 6000 (six thousand) km per hour! But by turning on its four thruster engines and giving pressure in the opposite direction, the speed started decreasing gradually. After about 11 minutes 30 seconds, it had decreased its speed to 1300 km per hour! And it had reached only 7.4 km height from the surface! Here comes the completion of the rough breaking phase!

Altitude Hold Phase !

In this phase of its landing mission, Chandrayaan 3’s Vikram Lander did two important things. The first of which was to turn on the “KARA” and “LASA” sensors that assist in landing! And the second was to reduce its height from the surface of the moon to 6.8 km! It only took ten seconds to do both of these things!
KARA = Ka-Band Altimeter. LASA=Laser Altimeter. LPDC = Lander Position Detection Camera. LIRAP=Laser Inertial Referencing and Accelerometer Package.

Fine Breaking Phase !

This third stage of landing was very important for the success of Chandrayaan 3. Because, in this phase last time Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan 2 had wobbled and was destroyed after falling on the surface of the moon. In such a situation, there was an atmosphere of curiosity in this Mission Operation Complex office of ISRO. And with the ongoing dilemma in mind, it was very difficult for the scientists to take out the next three minutes! That’s why there was silence in the live telecast too! But you will be happy to know that Chandrayaan 3 crossed this milestone in a jiffy!

Yes, in this stage Vikram Lander of Chandrayaan 3, not only made its position vertical from horizontal, but also decreased the height from 6.8 km to 800 meters! In the end, Vikram Lander’s Velocity i.e. speed had become 0/ZERO!. As if he was standing on the surface of the moon like Bahubali. In this way, the Fine Breaking Phase was completed in 3 minutes! After standing in this position for the next 20/ 22 seconds, Chandrayaan 3 took the entry in its last stop to go towards the moon! This phase is also called Fine Breaking Field – Fine Breaking Field!

Vertical Decent Phase !

This stage, which started at a height of 800 meters, now to be completed by touching the surface of the moon and achieving victory! For which, an atmosphere of curiosity was created all over India. Prayers were being made everywhere for the success of Chandrayaan 3! In this phase of the mission, Vikram Lander slowly moving forward reached a height of 150 meters, and it shut down two of its four engines! During this time its speed was again zero and it again started hovering in the thin atmosphere of the moon for 22 seconds.

Meanwhile, 11 cameras and 9 sensors inside it were looking for the right spot for landing! And you will be surprised to know that Chandrayaan 3’s Automatic Landing Sequences Algorithm and all its equipment together, took a decision in just 20 seconds by storing Real Time Data! And in the next 20 seconds, as soon as we blinked, Vikram Lander was standing on the surface of the Moon!

Unprecedented victory of Chandrayaan 3’s successful landing!

A historic victory for India! An extraordinary Landmark by ISRO! Due to which the whole of India/the whole world echoed with thunderous applause and an atmosphere of enthusiasm and gaiety started to be created everywhere! People started congratulating each other! Even India’s enemies were burnt to ashes seeing this huge success of ISRO!

Friends, this victory of Chandrayaan 3 is so historic for India because with this mission, India has done what no country in the whole world could do! Yes.. Vikram Lander landed on the south pole of the moon, where even NASA, Russia and China could not dare to go! That means, with this success, India has become the first country in the world, which has conquered the South Pole of the Moon!

Chandrayaan 3 Budget / Costing !

Not only this friend, but you will also be proud to know one more thing! The budget of NASA’s Apollo Eleven Moon mission was 30,00,00,00,000 (three thousand crore rupees). The budget was 16,00,00,00,000 sixteen hundred crore rupees. At the same time, the budget of the moon mission named Chang’e 4 of China was also 20,00,00,00,000+ (beyond two thousand, thousand crores)! ISRO has done the same work in just 615,00,00,000 (six hundred and fifteen) crores!

That’s why the name of ISRO is being hailed in space agencies around the world! Space agencies like America, Russia and Europe, which did not even look at ISRO in the initial days, all those space agencies are standing in line today to do space missions with ISRO! Think, what can be a matter of greater pride than this?
